In the shadows evolve brilliant artists. This is where Ian Ottaway, poet who disseminates his texts in the intricacies of the web, also webmaster and spiritual roadie of the Black Rebel Motorycle Club, close to Mark Lanegan, draws the inspiration that feeds his pen and seems to have found his voices from beyond the grave. Inspired by his damned prose, the French musician Tio Manuel decides to release iAN from the underground, where he lands, in 2015, the time of a disc entitled The iAN Ottaway Project. It is now Ian himself who makes the choice to put himself in music with Roll With The Damned, a first album to appear in 2020 at Revvolt Records, produced by the Austrian Matt Boroff. Old Angel Midnight, the first song we have to listen to, is somewhere between Mark Lanegan and King Dude. A recipe that should delight fans of droned voices cut by years of coffin nails smoked with diligence. Keep a close ear as it may be that iAN Ottaway’s Roll With The Damned is all about kissing your spleen during your long nights of insomnia.
